It's officially summer time

It is because pretty much everyone that I know is gone that it's officially summer time here at the U of MN. Thankfully this will be my last year of living on campus, and once next summer comes, I won't have to deal with the emptiness of this place. In all seriousness there are like 10 people I know living on campus, and one of those is moving to Chile in July.

Lauren moved back home for the summer herself today, and while it wasn't the happiest moment of my life, it certainly isn't cause for too much sorrow. It's kinda funny thinking that she is moving away, but when I think about it, I'll more than likely get to see her when I head home....although it doesn't feel like it's that soon. When Gretchen and I did the long-distance thing, it was about a month of waiting before we could see each other again, so I've been programmed to think that it's going to be an eternity of sorts before I get to see Lauren.

Before she left, she came to bring her car into my work, so I could check out the problem on one of her brakes. I'm sure every guy has one of these moments, but it's still fun when it happens. I know very little about cars, and even less on how to explain how things work, but when she brought the car in, to her I was Mr. Fix-it. Not having used our equiptment at work in about a year, coupled with the fact that I really had no idea where the tools were that I needed, and never having to deal with a hub cap instead of a rim, it took me a good hour plus to get the tire off, inspect it, and then put it back on (but again, I think she was none the wiser). The problem she was having was not one that couldn't wait until she got home and her dad and brother could look at it and fix it, which was nice. She's home now, and she only has a handful of hours before her job interview, so hopefully she does get enough sleep, and does well.

I leave for home myself on Saturday- I will finally touch down in Milwaukee at 10pm, but I do have a good hour layover at O'Hare, so that will be nice (I'm the kinda homesick Chicago guy that almost enjoys rush hour traffic on the Tri-State, so go figure I'd say that I like a layover). From there who knows how my schedule will pan out. I might just end up spending the night in the Milwaukee area, either hanging out with Lauren, or hanging out with some old fraternity guys. Sunday then is my Mom's graduation with a grilling party to celebrate afterwards. Sometime before I leave, I plan to visit my grandma and a friend who I haven't seen in over 5 years, so I will hopefully have enough time (and energy) in which to get to see everyone that I want to.

Our next game is Friday, and I am sure there will be nothing more fun than playing an 8:30pm game, only to drive back for 90 minutes, and then sleep just enough before I begin to head out to the airport. I have a good feeling that I'll get to see more PT than I did on Sunday, but we'll see when it happens.
